How often have you found yourself in a sticky situation as an instructor, a chairperson, or college administrator? Has this resulted in a reaction or a decision you later regretted? A good leader should not feel pressured to make hasty decisions. I have found that the lessons I learned as a P–12 leader are applicable to higher education leadership and decision-making. This article provides tried and true guidance about how to move forward when confronted by the unexpected.
