Academic leaders often approach faculty development as a sequence of workshops, webinars, or one-time teaching tips. Those offerings matter, but they do not, by themselves, create the kind of teaching culture that helps faculty grow, stay, and lead. Faculty development becomes more powerful when leaders treat it as infrastructure: a structured support system that scales across faculty roles, sustains growth over time, and reinforces the institution’s mission.
